The Spring 2019 Mayor’s Internship Program application is now open.
The Mayor's Office Internship Program is an opportunity for undergraduates (who would have completed their first year at the start of the program) and graduate level students to learn about and contribute to city government.
Please read all of the following instructions before starting your application:
All candidates must be an undergraduate student who has completed their first year prior to the program start date, or a graduate-level student enrolled at an accredited college or university.
All interested candidates must attach the following documents to their application to be considered:
• Resume
A cover letter that responds to the following questions:
o Why do you want to participate in the Mayor's Internship Program?
o What areas of the Mayor's Office are you most interested in working in? If you know specifics, please provide those in your response.
o What skills or qualities will you bring as a Mayor's Intern?
The following documents must be emailed to Jeffery Burgin, Internship Program Coordinator, at 
2 Letters of recommendation
Recommendations should be completed by individuals who can speak to an applicant's academic or work/volunteer experience. Recommendations from a friend or family member will not be accepted.
All recommendations must be sent via email by the recommender directly to the address above. Please include the following subject line: [Last Name, First Name] Internship Program Recommendation.
ATTENTION: Recommendations sent by the applicant will not be accepted. They must come directly from the recommender.

Is the Mayor’s Office Internship Program a paid internship?
The Mayor’s Office Internship Program is an unpaid position; however, parking is provided.
How long is the Summer 2018 Mayor’s Office Internship Program?
The Summer 2018 Mayor’s Office Internship Program runs from mid-May to the beginning of August. Actual start & end dates are negotiable depending on specific semester schedules. 
How many hours do I need to dedicate to the Mayor’s Office Internship Program?
Interns are expected to be part of the program from 20 – 25 hours per week, depending on their academic schedule.
Can I obtain Academic Credits for the Mayor’s Office Internship Program?
Yes! Please contact the Jeffery Burgin, Internship Program Coordinator, at for more information. 

Do I need to pay for parking/public transportation?
No, you will be provided with a parking space (IndyGo Bus Pass for those who don’t drive) for the duration of your internship program.
