IMPD Citizens' Services 50 North Alabama Street, Suite E100A Indianapolis, Indiana 46204 Office: (317) 327-3592
Applications for, or renewal of, an Indiana Personal Protection Firearms Permit may be made on-line at www.in.gov/isp/. Use of this online application generally expedites the permitting process.
Alternatively, permit forms may be obtained from the IMPD Citizens' Service office which is located in Room E100 of Police Headquarters at 50 North Alabama Street, phone (317)327-3591. Hours of operation are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday (excluding national holidays).
Permit applications must be typed, filled in completely, and notarized. All previous criminal convictions must be disclosed on the application; failure to do so will result in denial of the permit. (See Permit Fee Schedule for the permitting fees.)
Firearms permit renewals may be made no earlier than six months prior to the expiration of the existing permit.
If you live outside the service district of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, you will need to contact your local law enforcement agency for permit information.
