Rebate Check
The Treasurer of Marion County, Mike Rodman, worked with the Indiana General Assembly during the 2008 session and obtained bipartisan support in the Senate to change existing state statute so that homeowners in Marion County would receive their rebate faster than allowed by existing Indiana statute. Mr. Rodman's recommendations passed the Senate in Senate Bill 21. The House did not hold a hearing on the bill. This bill would have allowed the Treasurer to apply the rebate as a credit on the reconciling bill.
State statute requires the rebate check to be mailed after the July collection of the reconciliation bill for 2007 (discussed below).
The check will be made out to and mailed to the same name and address as the reconciling statement.
Reconciliation Statement for Property Taxes due in 2007
Under the governor's reassessment order, property tax payers were instructed to pay the same amount of property taxes in 2007 as they paid in 2006 and that a final bill would be used to collect remaining taxes once the reassessment was completed in 2008. The reconciling property tax statement, which is the final tax statement for taxes due in 2007, will be mailed in June and due in July 2008. That reassessment has been completed and the state approved the values in late March, 2008. Based on the reassessed values, new tax rates will be determined and then multiplied by the assessed value to determine taxes due. Assessed values will be available on the County Assessor's Webpage http://www.indygov.org/egov/county/assessors/county/home.htm and a link to that page will also be posted on this website.
Actions of the 2008 Indiana General Assembly do not affect taxes due and payable on the reconciliation bill for 2007. The reconciling statement will be affected by corrected assessed values.
Individual tax amounts due will be posted on this website as soon as the information is available.
All deduction forms are filed with the Marion County Auditor. Visit the Auditor's Web site at www.indygov.org/auditor, or call them at (317) 327-4646 to inquire about other deductions for which you may qualify; as well as filing dates.
All name and/or address changes must be filed with the township assessor of the township in which the property is located. (See the list below for a list of all Marion County Township Assessors.)
