Held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, the End Bullying Now! forum brought together experts in child psychology, school safety and the law with community leaders, parents and concerned citizens to discuss how to reduce bullying in our community. Forum Presentations

​State Representative Greg Porter discussed recent changes to Indiana’s anti-bullying law. A strong advocate for P-20 education, Rep. Porter was the primary author of the new law (HEA 1423). A member of the Indiana House of Representatives since 1992, he serves as the ranking Democrat on the House Ways & Means Committee and is the past chairman of the House Education Committee.

Dr. Dennis Ray Kinder discussed the emotional impact of bullying on children, which includes exploring if bullying affects neurological structure and function. Dr. Kinder is a psychologist for the Children’s Resource Group specializing in psychological and psychoeducational evaluation of children and adolescents with complex developmental, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties.

Deputy Prosecutors Kevonna Tyler and Austin Shadle presented Project CyberSafe for Parents, a new initiative of the Marion Co. Prosecutor's Office to educate adults on the risks of cyberbullying, the dangers of unmonitored online activity by children and protecting personal information online.

Dr. Brandie Oliver's  presentation “Power of Many: Empowerment of students, schools and parents” explored topics such as advocacy, bullying at school and home, the importance of empathy and strategies to build your student’s life toolbox. Dr. Oliver is the Assistant Professor of School Counseling at Butler University.

Mr. David Woodward presented information on school safety and what is being done in Indiana schools to prevent and address bullying. Mr. Woodward is Director for the Indiana School Safety Specialist Academy, a program within the Indiana Department of Education.
