The current Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) System that has been in place since 1999. A COPS grant was awarded to the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the MECA Board approved the funding of the required $2 MM match. A Request for Proposal Process for a CAD project manager has been completed and a CAD Project Manager has been selected. At this time, City/County Purchasing Division is working with the consulting company on contractual matters. Upon contract approval by the MECA Board, we will begin developing a CAD User Group. This user group will consist of front-line users, dispatchers, and other system experts. The User Group will assist in developing the list of functional user requirements. When these requirements have been identified, and risks and other threats have been assessed, a Request for Proposal will be issued for the CAD Project. Once a Vendor is selected, the MECA project team, with the help of its customers, will begin the task of infrastructure procurement, installation, training strategies, deployment and cutover development. In order to meet COPS Grant Requirements, all of the grant monies must be encumbered by August 31, 2010.
