Join Clerk White for ‘First Tuesday’

Voter education and outreach effort aimed at increasing participation in local elections


INDIANAPOLIS – Marion County Clerk Beth White will be hosting the second installment of ‘First Tuesday’ tomorrow, March 2, 2010 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the IBEW Local 481.

First Tuesdays are informal monthly meetings designed to better inform residents about the voting process in an effort to increase participation in local elections. March’s meeting focuses on campaign finance as pre-primary campaign finance reports for 2010 candidates are due mid-April. In addition to the presentation, residents can register to vote, test the county’s voting equipment and ask questions.

First Tuesdays are held on the ‘First Tuesday’ of each month – a nod to Election Day, which is held in Indiana on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in May and November. The next meeting will be held on April 6 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Washington Township Government Center and will focus on becoming a poll worker.
