Brian Mahern was elected to his first term on the Council in November 2007.  Brian is proud to represent the area he grew up in.  His children are the seventh generation of his family to live on the Near Eastside.

On the Council Brian is concentrating his efforts on improving the quality of life in the 16th District.  His priorities include reducing the number of abandoned and vacant houses and promoting economic development.  He also believes that the City needs to do a better job with regards to public safety, and the quality of sidewalk and street infrastructure.  He currently serves as a member of the Metropolitan Development, Community Affairs and Ethics Committees of the Council.

Brian graduated from Holy Cross Grade School, Scecina Memorial High School, and Indiana University-Bloomington.  Brian works for the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.
