Administration and Finance Committee

Reviews and approves all administrative functions of the City and County, such as human resources/employment, purchasing, legal counsel, constituent services, internal audits

 

Committee on Committees

Assigns Council members to committees and reviews background information on appointees.

 

Community Affairs Committee

Reviews items that concern the community at large, including family and children's services, mental health centers, cooperative extension service, and the guardian home 

 

Economic Development Committee

Addresses concerns that stifle economic growth and helps to promote economic development in all areas of the city

Ethics Committee

Reviews standards of conduct and violations of the Code of Ethics for those elected to serve the public.

Metropolitan Development Committee

Concentrates on neighborhood concerns such as zoning, planning, land use, public housing, township administration, code compliance and enforcement, historic preservation, and economic development

 

Municipal Corporations Committee

Reviews actions and concerns of the five municipal corporations:  Health and Hospital Corporation, Indianapolis Airport Authority, Indianapolis Convention Center and RCA Dome, Indianapolis Marion County Library, and Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation (IndyGo)

 

Parks and Recreation Committee

Reviews actions and concerns that affect parks land and arts and recreation opportunities in the community, such as neighborhood parks and community centers, golf services, recreation and leisure services, Greenways, and Arts Council of Indianapolis

 

Public Safety and Criminal Justice Committee

Oversees the public safety agencies of the City and County, including the court system, animal control, fire and police agencies, emergency communication, forensic services, prosecutor and public defender

 

Public Works Committee

Handles all environmental and infrastructure concerns of the city and county, such as street paving, trash pickup, snow removal, solid waste management, and traffic controls

 

Rules and Public Policy Committee

Handles matters concerning Council procedures and rules, ordinance review and revision, and public policy matters that affect a great number of constituents
