The Sanitary Sewer Master Plan proposes approximately $650 million (in 2004 dollars) of planned system upgrades over a 20- to 30-year period.
Sanitary sewer improvements will:
- Reduce sewage backups into basements, streets and neighborhood streams
- Rehabilitate aging sewers and extend their life
Help avoid costly environmental fines and penalties
- Allow the city's sewer system to keep pace with growing neighborhoods
- Improve the environment and quality of life in Indianapolis by making the city a cleaner, healthier place to live and work
