IMPD Internship Program

The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) is committed to developing and maintaining healthy partnerships with the community. One goal is to work with colleges and universities to help shape and develop students interested in career in law enforcement. The IMPD Internship Program seeks qualified university and college students to apply and participate in a positive as well as informative learning environment. The qualified intern will be exposed to many aspects of law enforcement that will better shape their career path. 

Please note some initial requirements to be part of the IMPD Internship Program:

         1.       Resident citizen of the United States.

         2.       Registered as a student in good standing at an accredited college or university.

         3.       Must have college and or university referral and the internship must be for  college credit hours.

         4.       Must possess a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

         5.       Must not have been convicted of a felony.

         6.       Must not have been convicted of a misdemeanor involving domestic violence {18 U.S.C Sec.9229g)}

         7.        If you are part of a 4-year degree program, you must be a junior and or senior to participate in the program; schools with a 2-year degree program, we may require you to be a senior to participate in the program.

         8.       If selected after the interview process; the background phase will begin. This includes fingerprints and a criminal history check. In addition, you will be required to agree and sign a confidentiality clause.​
