Donation Drive, Recycle Day at IACC this Saturday
INDIANAPOLIS – Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (IACC) announced today that this Sat., May 19, will be “Recycle Day” at the shelter. Community members are encouraged to bring any donations to the shelter as well as any empty printer toner cartridges or recyclable paper.
“Our volunteers will be working to package recyclable toner cartridges to send to a company that donates money to the shelter for each one,” said Adam Garrett, volunteer coordinator for IACC. “We also have a recycle bin for paper and the shelter receives donations based on how much paper we collect.”
IACC took in over 18,000 animals in 2006 and operates on a minimal budget. Donations are a big part of animal comfort and extra shelter promotions.
“We are asking the public for help,” said Garrett. “As you do your spring cleaning, you may have old towels and blankets, and we would love to have them for the animals here.”
IACC works year-round to combat the pet overpopulation problem in Indianapolis. The spring usually brings a barrage of litters of kittens and puppies into animal shelters around the state.
IACC offers a variety of services to the public, including pet adoption, microchipping and public education information. Please see the list of requested donations below:
