"Rookies" Take the Field for First IACC Puppy Bowl

INDIANAPOLIS – While crews in Miami are busy prepping Dolphin Stadium for the showdown between the Colts and Bears, crews at Indianapolis Animal Care & Control (IACC) are busy installing  turf in the shelter lobby for a different kind of showdown - the first IACC Puppy Bowl.

A variety of puppies will vie for the crowd's affection as they pounce, play and chew their way across Puppy Stadium. Adopters and spectators are encouraged to come out and cheer for their favorite "players." A fabulous kitten halftime show, music and a display of Colts team spirit will complete the day's activities.

"This event is a fun way to find homes for some great puppies and kittens and to celebrate the accomplishments of the Colts this season," said Administrator Leslie Fatum. "Hopefully this will be the first of many, many Puppy Bowls for our shelter, as well as many, many Super Bowl trips for our Colts."

The event will take place at IACC, located at 2600 S. Harding St., Sat., Feb. 3. IACC opens at 10 a.m., with the main event starting at 11 a.m. and the kitten halftime show at 11:30. Anyone who adopts an animal throughout the day will be eligible to win authentic Colts memorabilia.

Adoption fees are $60 and include spay or neuter surgery, all age-appropriate vaccines, except rabies, a microchip, and a heartworm or feline leukemia test. Hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays the shelter is open until 7 p.m. and Saturday hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
