DESCRIPTION

Municipal Gardens is one of Indy Parks' oldest recreation centers. Prior to opening as a public park in 1952, Municipal Gardens served as a private canoe and yacht club, as well as a popular dance hall. The building was constructed in 1920. Municipal Gardens serves youth, adults, seniors, and people with special needs.

HISTORY
Municipal Gardens has earned a reputation around the country for its national champion Amateur Athletic Union ( AAU) basketball teams. Municipal Garden's teams earned the national championship title nine times and national championship runner up titles six times since the program started in 1955.

Municipal Gardens Dad's Club Football League has been in existence since 1956 and is dedicated to the youth of the greater Indianapolis community. Dad's Club football is just one of the many ways to teach teamwork, unity, and respect for themselves and others.  

The Too Much Dance, Inc. performance team based out of Municipal Gardens has received accolades nationwide including appearances on BET's 106 & Park and local competitions including StarQuest Midwest Talent Search.

When is your spray pool open to the public?
The Municipal Gardens Park spray pool is open Memorial Day through Labor Day.  Regular season hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Sunday, 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Spray pool is free and open to the public.

Do I have to rent the shelter? Or can I just show up and try and claim the location I want?
Shelter is first come first serve or you can pay a $75 fee to reserve the shelter for an entire day.
