DESCRIPTION
Glenns Valley Nature Park was originally called Bluff Road Estates. When James A. Himler lived on this thirty acres he referred to it as Bluff Road Estates. Mr. Himler enjoyed nature and many beautiful trees were planted here including a border of white pines along Bluff Road.  Glenns Valley Nature Park became the new name when Mr. Himler deeded the land to the City of Indianapolis on Friday April 3, 1992. Since this time Indy Parks has made several improvements to the property.  A parking lot was added as well as gravel walking trails.  The Himler residence was renovated and the three-car garage was converted into a classroom.  Part of the park was also converted into a natural area and is being maintained to encourage the growth of native Indiana Plants.  The park offers a variety of environmental education and interpretive programs.  Moving forward the park is planning to put interpretive displays in the building and expand its program offerings.
