Do I have to rent the shelters and the picnic knoll ahead of time, or can I just show up and try and claim the location I want? Park amenities are first come first served unless permitted out ahead of time. Beginning in May and going through the end of October the shelters and the picnic knoll are typically permitted out every weekend. We start taking shelter reservations for the year, the first business day in January. We rent amenities for the day. There are fees involved depending on the amenity that is rented. We post signs inside the display board by each amenity indicating if it is rented for the day or not.
