Parks Seasonal Positions

POSITION:  Arts Center Manager

SALARY: $34,021.00 - $45.929.00

JOB NUMBER: 2008-211

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the overall management of programs, services, and facilities in the Arts Center. Will design and implement arts programs. Develops and manage all fiscal resources, contracts, and partnerships for Arts Services. Oversees and coordinates volunteer advisory council.  Supervises art center staff, volunteers, partners and contracted instructors.  Oversees the ordering and purchasing of supplies, materials and equipment for the arts center. Other duties as identified and assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Arts, recreation or related field and 4 years of managerial work experience. Any combination of education and work experience in Arts Administration may substitute. Should possess skills to be self-motivated, be people oriented, and have exceptional written and oral communications skills. Must be able to work productively under general supervision and have the ability to work varied work schedule including some weekends, evenings, and holidays. Ability to obtain: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeurs license.

POSITION:  HEAD LIFEGUARD

SALARY: $9.00

POSITION SUMMARY: In this part-time position, located at Washington Community School Pool (2215 West Washington St.), the incumbent is responsible for every day operational tasks at aquatic facilities under the supervision and direction of the Aquatic Facility Manager, Park Manager or Head Guard. Responsibilities include enforcing rules and performing proper rotation, providing safety assistance, rescues, emergency actions and first aid when necessary, monitoring participants and users of the facility, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent preferred. The ability to obtain Ellis & Associates Lifeguard license is required. The ability to obtain a Water Safety Instructor certificate is desired. Must be able to communication effectively and are people oriented and have customer service skills. Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Bilingual skills particularly in Spanish are preferred.

POSITION:  LIFEGUARD/WASHINGTON COMMUNITY SCHOOL POOL

SALARY: $8.00

JOB NUMBER: 2008-201

POSITION SUMMARY: This part-time position is responsible for every day operational tasks at aquatic facilities under the supervision and direction of the Aquatic Facility Manager, Park Manager or Head Guard. Responsibilities include guarding aquatic facility and providing safety assistance to patrons when necessary according to Ellis & Associates Risk Management, assist in pool maintenance, taking part in daily and weekly in-service training, collection of revenues, depositing money, completing necessary reports and forms, communication with the public, opening/closing and securing facilities, supervising participants and users of the facilities, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled, ability to work independently with general supervision, and to complete established reports or forms. Ability to obtain Ellis & Associates license. Valid Indiana Driver's license is preferred.

 

POSITION:   Naturalist

SALARY: $27,791.00 - $36,129.00

POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible for planning initiatives effectively for teaching natural and cultural history to park patrons.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in natural resources, wildlife ecology, or related field and three (3) years of relevant work experience.  Ability to effectively coordinate, guide, assist and monitor staff in project research and analysis processes, thereby ensuring the successful completion of assigned work projects.   Ability to make effective presentations.  Ability to communicate effectively through the following means:  oral, writing, summary tables and graphs, photographs, graphics, databases.  Knowledge of Indiana flora and fauna.

POSITION:   LIFEGUARD/ Lashonna Bates Pool

SALARY: $8 /hr

JOB NUMBER: 2008-173

POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible for everyday operational tasks at assigned park location under the supervision and direction of the Pool Manager or Head Lifeguard.

POSITION:   Head Lifeguard

SALARY: $9 /hr

POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible for everyday operational tasks at assigned Park location under the supervision and direction of the Pool or Park Manager.  Work related activities would include all facets of recreational programming and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma and/or GED equivalent preferred, and a minimum of one (1) years prior related experience in Aquatic Operations. Requires a thorough knowledge of pool and water chemistry and operations to include water testing and chemical applications, chemical controller calibration, set points and operation, chemical pump operation, back washing of pool filters, cleaning strainer baskets, slide and play feature motor operation, pool heater operation, pool vacuuming, vacuum operation and maintenance, chemical and supply ordering.  Licenses/Certifications required or ability to obtain: Lifeguard License, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator Certification.  Position will require a respiratory physical and fit test for chemical facemask, maintenance and chemical handling procedures training.  Job knowledge and experience in Aquatic Operations. Experience in training and supervising employees.  Ability to coordinate multiple tasks.  Ability to communicate effectively. POSITION:   Assistant Arts Center Manager

SALARY: $14.47 /hr

POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible for the overall management of programs, services, facilities, and personnel at designated park location in the absence of the Arts Center Manager. Work related activities may incorporate all facets of administrative support for arts programming and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree or four (4) years experience (or equivalent combination of education & experience) in Business Administration or Recreation Management. Strong interest in supporting the arts is a plus. Ability to work productively under general supervision.  Must be self-motivated and dependable.  Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills.  Must be customer service oriented. Licenses/Certifications required: Ability to obtain: CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeurs License, NYSCA Clinician Certification and Prefer CPRP (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional).

 

POSITION:   Aquatic Supervisor

SALARY: $30,106.00

POSITION SUMMARY: Position is responsible management of aquatic programs, services, facilities, and personnel at the Park Aquatic Facility.  Work related activities would include all facet of recreational programming and service delivery.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's Degree in Recreation Administration or related field. One year of related work experience may be substituted for each year of formal education. A minimum of two (2) years prior related experience in Aquatic Operations. Requires a thorough knowledge of pool and water chemistry and operations to include water testing and chemical applications, chemical controller calibration, set points and operation, chemical pump operation, back washing of pool filters, cleaning strainer baskets, slide and play feature motor operation, pool heater operation, pool vacuuming, vacuum operation and maintenance, chemical and supply ordering and inventory.  Licenses/Certifications required or ability to obtain: Lifeguard Instructor and Lifeguard License, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, CPR and First Aid Teaching Certificate, Aquatic Facility Operator or Certified Pool Operator Certification, Indiana Public Passengers Chauffeurs License. Prefer CPRP (Certified Parks & Recreation Professional). Position will require a respiratory physical and fit test for chemical face mask, maintenance and chemical handling procedures training. Job knowledge and experience in all facets of Aquatic Operations. Experience in training and supervising employees. Ability to coordinate multiple tasks. Ability to communicate effectively. Customer service and people oriented. Ability to follow established procedures, policies and protocol. Valid Indiana operator's license required.

POSITION:   Lifeguard

SALARY: $8.00

POSITION SUMMARY: This part-time position, located at the Krannert Aquatic Center, is responsible for every day operational tasks at aquatic facilities under the supervision and direction of the Aquatic Facility Manager or Park Manager. Work related activities would include all facets of recreational programming and service delivery. Responsibilities include providing overall supervision of programs, services, facilities, and personnel, assuming responsibility for facility in the absence of the Pool Manager, maintaining aquatic facility providing the highest attention to safety for participants and employees, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: One year of prior related work experience in aquatics operations preferred. The ability to obtain Ellis & Associates Lifeguard license is required. The ability to obtain a Water Safety Instructor certificate is desired. Must be able to communication effectively and are people oriented and have customer service skills.  Must be able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Bilingual skills particularly in Spanish are preferred.

 

POSITION: Lifeguard/Krannert

SALARY: $8.00/hr

JOB NUMBER: 2008-082

POSITION SUMMARY:  Park Manager or Head Guard.  Responsibilities include guarding aquatic facility and providing safety assistance to patrons when necessary according to Ellis &Associates Rick Management, clean and police grounds and facilities, assist in pool maintenance such as vacuuming and chemical applications, taking part in daily and weekly inservice training, collection of revenues, depositing money, completing necessary reports and forms, registering participants in computer program, answering phones, communicating with the public, opening/closing and securing facilities, implementing programs and activities, supervising participants and useres of the facilities, and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: Able to work evenings, weekends and holidays as scheduled, ability to work independently with general supervision,  and ability to complete established reports or forms. Ability to obtain, Ellis & Associates Lifeguard license, Indiana Public Passenger's Chauffeurs drivers license. Must currently possess a valid driver's license. PART TIME YEAR AROUND NO BENEFIT.

POSITION: Lifeguard/Thatcher Park

SALARY: $8.00/hr
