POSITION SUMMARY:  Position is responsible for assisting Forensic Pathologist and participating in autopsies to determine cause and manner of death.   Assume technical responsibility for evidence collection, radiographic and autopsy procedures.  Maintain a variety of records, databases, and logbooks pertaining to autopsy records such as deaths, disposal permits, autopsy quality assurance data and storage of organs.  Must have some medical background either in education or work experience.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Associate's degree or three (3) years experience as an autopsy technician or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience.  Good oral and written communication skills.  Good computer skills.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs.  Knowledge of proper practices in the use, care and maintenance of surgical and autopsy equipment, including equipment for cleaning and sterilization.  Knowledge of aseptic and antiseptic cleaning and disinfecting, procedures and precautions for using potential disinfectants and chemical preservatives.  Completion of blood borne pathogens training is required within three months of hire.  Continued education in autopsy techniques and practices after employment.  Valid Indiana driver's license required..

POSITION SUMMARY:  This position is responsible for transcribing medical information from tape or written text by forensic pathologist.  Interacting with pathologist and other coroner staff, answering phones for release of remains, and overall organization of office files as it relates to Coroner cases.  Distributes and monitors work of other transcriptionist. 

QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have at least 2 years of experience as a transcriptionist.  Work Hours are from 8:00am to 4:30pm and some weekends when requested.

TESTING REQUIRED:  Typing Test (55 WPM)
