Office of City Prosecutor

This section is responsible for filing all code enforcement cases for the City and County, for helping to coordinate non-litigation based improvements to neighborhood quality of life, for representing law enforcement and code enforcement interests at licensing hearings, for serving as a liaison to community and neighborhood groups, and for initiating innovative lawsuits and legal solutions to neighborhood improvement efforts.  The Ordinance Violations Bureau handles fines for infractions that do not require a filing in court, such as illegal parking and failure to control pets.  The City Prosecutor is responsible for the enforcement of city ordinances and handling those violations that do require a court filing.

The Office of City Prosecutor is part of the Office of Corporation Counsel and is responsible for taking legal action to enforce city ordinances. Office team members work with code inspectors and law enforcement to enforce city ordinances.

The office team has recently been enhanced by the addition of a Community City Prosecutor and Community Paralegal. These new team members will work to build partnerships with the community and law enforcement to identify neighborhood issues that can be addressed through effective code enforcement.

The Office of City Prosecutor now has four attorneys, a nuisance abatement coordinator, and three support staff members that are all dedicated to building better neighborhoods.
